NORTH PEAK IMPACT

  • FINE TUNING FOR INCREASED EFFICIENCY

    The problem:
Herb Chambers was looking for other ways to save energy. They had already gone after the low-hanging fruit by updating old lighting, and installing an energy management system.

    The Solution:
They brought in North Peak Equipment to explore the opportunity of improving their HVAC system even more by installing VFD's on 11 roof top units.

    The Result:
$14,906 in dollar savings, 82,809 kWh savings annually, 15.8 Demand Reduction, and a $15,550 utility incentive resulting in a 15-month payback.

  • RETROFITTING HVAC UNITS FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE

    The problem:
Planet Fitness was looking for other ways to save energy. They had already updated old lighting, and installed an energy management system. They also replaced older rooftop units near the end of life with units that came with VFD's already installed. They wanted the same solution on their existing units that were not old enough to replace and still had plenty of life left.

    The Solution:
Planet Fitness brought in North Peak Equipment to retrofit their existing HVAC rooftop units with VFD's (Variable Frequency Drives).

    The Result:
$13,093 in dollar savings, 72,738 kWh savings, 8.2 Demand Reduction, and a $5,450 utility incentive resulting in a 6-month payback.

  • VFD'S FOR THE YMCA

    The Problem:
The YMCA was looking for other ways to save energy. They had already gone after the low-hanging fruit by updating old lighting, and installing an energy management system.

    The Solution:
They brought in North Peak Equipment to explore the opportunity of improving their HVAC system even more by installing VFD's on 22 rooftop units.

    The Result:
$52.658 in dollar savings, 292,547 in kWh savings, 29.1 Demand Reduction and a 16-month payback.

FAQs

What is a VFD?

In short terms, a variable frequency drive (VFD) is a controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage of its power supply. The VFD also has the capacity to control ramp-up and ramp-down of the motor during starts or stops.

How does installing VFDs save money?

VFDs save energy and money by enabling electric motors to operate at less than full speed. By simply reducing your HVAC’s motor speed by 25%, the energy consumption decreases by nearly 60%. A further speed reduction of 50% decreases energy consumption by nearly 90%. Our VFD units and optimization plans will help you to save money immediately and well into the future.

Does VFD installation qualify for rebates?

YES! We look for every way to save you money while performing audits or installations. Local utilities and governments agencies offer either rebates, credits or tax deductions to incentivize the installation of energy-saving VFDs.
